Edward and Corinna Shen have been in the restaurant and seafood business since 1976. Edward's expertise lie in restaurant management and recipe development, while Corinna’s is in the seafood import/export business. Their combined knowledge and dedication to presenting the finer side of Chinese cuisine has earned them recognition in the Washington D.C. area. They have been invited to speak at important forums hosted by institutions like the Smithsonian, University of Maryland, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office and East Coast Live.

The Shens believe in service and hospitality with a personal touch. They know their regulars by name, and encourage new guests to be adventurous when dining at Seven Seas. Guests who have experienced the hospitality and fine food at Seven Seas include: actors Robin Williams and Bill Cosby, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, former U.S senator Tom Daschle and Maryland governor Martin O' Malley. The restaurant also plays host to many businesses and groups on a daily basis.

Giving back to the D.C. community is very much a part of the Shens’ philosophy for Seven Seas. They have provided food at 10k races (Home Run by Hebrew Homes; Pike’s Peek,) fundraising raffle tickets (Tilden; UMD; Georgetown,) and donations benefitting the homeless (Manna Food Center; Thanksgiving in February.) Recognized as exemplary business professionals within the Chinese community in Rockville, Edward and Corinna support and promote understanding of Chinese culture. Apart from organizing cultural dining events, they are actively involved with the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center and and the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of Greater Washington.
